Hello! I am Red, an independent audio designer, musician, and music producer based in Santa Cruz, California. I graduated with Honors from UCSC in the Winter quarter of 2023 with a B.A. in Film Production and a Minor in Electronic Music. I have worked with my fellow students on a variety of projects including short films, video games, music for streaming services, and even a podcast! From these projects I've gathered experience writing, recording, mixing and mastering both music and SFX. In addition to my musical expertise, I've gathered a lot of experience working on films in pre-, pro-, and post-production, with an emphasis on all aspects of sound.
I work primarily in Ableton Live 11 & DaVinci Resolve for my film & audio projects, taking advantage of Max for Live to create my own tools when needed for unique effects. I work mostly from my home studio setup, though I have experience working in UCSC's professional sound studio as well as various studios local to Santa Cruz, CA. I have experience with analog and digital modular synthesizers, an analog Eurorack system at UCSC's music studio, and software synths including VCV Rack, REAKTOR 6 by Native Instruments, and Voltage Modular by Cherry Audio.
Being a film production graduate, I have had many opportunities to further enhance visual narrative storytelling through sound. I've recorded Foley for my projects on YouTube and edited them with effects ranging from simple to sophisticated to suit the narrative's purpose and theme. Additionally, I've paired Foley with sound synthesis for creating sci-fi soundscapes that can't be simply recorded within our reality, combining techniques for both focuses to add weight to the visuals of the worlds we've created.
